Friendster Blogs now Powered by Wordpress

September 11, 2008 · Posted in Mike's Blog

It’s about time! I have to say that Friendster’s old blogging interface is a pain in the you know where. Today, I got an email from them telling me that they’ve updated their blogging system and so I checked. To my surprise, my Friendster blog now sports the Kubrick theme. I quickly took a look at the admin side and my hunch was correct - their Friendster blogs are now powered by Wordpress!

Check me out on Friendster »

I have to say that it’s a smart move to integrate Wordpress into Friendster mainly because Wordpress is a tried and tested opensource blogging platform that makes it easy for its users to create blog posts and manage them.

Kudos to Friendster!

Trouble is though, WP has become to common these days, everybody uses it. Which means your just another wordpress site, offering nothing original

Interesting point but I don’t think that just because we both use wordpress for our sites mean that we’re not offering anything original.

Wordpress can actually be a pain to deal with.

Typical example is when you want page breaks (line breaks) in a wordpress post , when you save it, wordpress removes the extra spacing.

Its so annoying. The only way around it is edit (or write) as normal , switch to html mode and then add the html tag for line break , and then save it.
