Do you need ideas for a small business? Many people today are shifting from employment into running their own small business mostly from their homes. The internet has basically empowered every individual to make money from the internet from the comfort of their living rooms or even bedrooms – even in the Philippines.
As such, I thought it would be great to compile a list of small business ideas which I think are great.
Direct Selling – this type of business is often avoided by many because of the world “selling” when in fact selling is the only way for one to earn some bucks. The most common items to sell nowadays are wellness and beauty products. The concept is simple – order the products from the supplier and sell it to people.
Drinks and Snacks – if you’re located near a school or in a place where there are lots of people then selling drinks and snacks would be a good idea. You can make your own drinks (think fruit shakes or powdered juices such as orange, iced tea, etc.) and snacks such as sandwiches, hotdogs. The fastest way to get started with this type of business is to get a franchise.
Network Marketing – many may shy away from this type of business but it is actually a good business. The fastest way to get started on this type of business is to find a network marketing company with good training programs. Network marketing is basically you building your empire of consumers and that every consumer is given the same opportunity to build their own empire of consumers.
Online Affiliate Marketing – if you have lots of time to spend in front of the computer then maybe affiliate marketing is for you. You can quickly make some extra bucks doing affiliate marketing on the internet. The concept is that you sell someone else’s product and get a commission.

How to Make Money Online in the Philippines
Posted by Mike Lopez in Newsletter on July 1, 2010
Lots and lots of Filipinos are looking for ways to work at home and the first thing that comes to mind of the tech-savvy Filipino businessman is to make money online, via the internet, while they sit back in their homes. But how should it be done?
First things first – making money online in the Philippines (or not) should not be confined to the typical ones such as ads and affiliate marketing. You should think of this from the business perspective. You can sell your own products or even put up an online store or a blog for your typically offline business.
Basically, you’ll need a website, website traffic and a means to capture the name and e-mail address of your website visitors. I won’t delve into the technicalities of these because they’ll require a lot to explain. Instead, I would advise that you go and hire a professional to help you out.
OR… you can join my team and be part of my 100 Rich Men project. I’ll teach you how to make money online (and offline) in the Philippines using techniques that I use.
The Perfect Business for Pinoys

What kind of business can a newbie jump into that requires very little learning, has a relatively small investment and is easy to operate?
Answer: FRANCHISING BUSINESS!
Yup, you heard that right! Franchising of food carts as well as services such as spas and laundry shops are the #1 craze today in the Philippines. The beauty of getting a franchise instead of starting your own business from scratch is that you practically get a “packaged business” meaning that what you pay for pays for everything you need to run the business.
This includes the logo, the food cart (kiosk, stall or whatever), training, equipment, furniture, advertising material, training, uniform and supplies. Practically all you need is the money to buy the franchise and a good location.
But how much do franchises cost? The more popular ones would cost you in the range of 400,000 to 500,000 Pesos. Good news is that you don’t always have to go for the popular ones as new (and really good) alternative brands are cropping up everywhere. These alternative brands would cost you less than half of the what expensive ones cost!
WARNING: Don’t fall for the really cheap ones!
So, what type of franchise would you want get?
